VERVE FOR LIFE BENEFIT BALL 2015

Our James Bond inspired Verve Benefit Ball was an absolute blast! Thanks to the ongoing love and support of our beloved vervies, it was also a massive success. We raised a whopping $27,000 for Cystic Fibrosis, NSW. Here is just a little message from Michelle, the CEO of Cystic Fibrosis NSW who was thrilled with our efforts.

Dear Verve For Life,

Please extend my most sincere congratulations and thanks to everyone who helped organise and support this amazing event. As a small charity, receiving very little government funding, we rely almost entirely on the generosity of our supporters. Please be assured your efforts will make an extraordinary contribution to many lives.

Our Newcastle services team, in conjunction with the John Hunter Hospital child and adult clinics, have just started recruiting young people to participate in a major research project that will be implemented over the next few months. The project will design and pilot a range of tools to improve treatment self-management by early teens as a part of their transition to adult life and services. Transition is a complex and often problematic time for many young people. When its combined with CF the consequences can have serious health consequences. We hope this project will identify ways that we can prevent problems before they occur.

The project is partly funded with a grant we won in an internationally competitive tender process offered by Vertex Pharmaceuticals. Your contribution will help cover our costs and then sustain and expand the program statewide after the trial period.

Once again, my most sincere thanks and best wishes,
Michele
CEO Cystic Fibrosis NSW

YOUTH OFF THE STREETS Spring Clean Up 2014

Our Spring Cleaning Collection Appeal was a huge success. All of your once loved items were bundled up and collected by the beautiful volunteers at the Anglican Church at Windale. These people are truly amazing. Throughout the year they run food and clothing drives, giving to those who are in need. Need of food, clothing, footwear, blankets, towels, books...the list goes on. If there is something someone needs, they give it to them, no questions asked. Because of your generosity they can continue to deliver this community service. They were incredibly thankful for the massive 2 car loads we presented them with.

Well done Vervies and thank you! You are a beautifully unique bunch of equally amazing people that we love sharing every day with.

PAST FUNDRAISING EVENTS

Firstly, we would like to take this opportunity to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your help in raising the much needed funds and awareness for Charlie Teo's Cure Brain Cancer Foundation. When this idea first originated, it was a solo effort by our senior Personal Trainer, Nathan Walshe. He and Claire, his wife, wanted to do something that would honour their best friend Johan, who sadly passed away in July 2013 after a strong fight with a brain tumour...and that they did!

It turned into an event partnered with KSD - the cafe owned by Johan's fiance Daniyella Spudic. The Burpee Mile took place on Johan's birthday and grew from an inspiring solo event to an incredibly uplifting extravaganza. You all turned up to show your support, to pitch in and to get down and dirty, burping your huge hearts out for 1.6km.

We were in awe at the amount of aspiring burpee lovers (and haters) who completed the mile either solo, or in teams. Vervies and the greater community came from far and wide to sell raffle tickets, purchase t-shirts, cheer, score, cook, clean, donate or capture this incredible display of love and friendship on camera. Everything you did helped us surpass our goals.

With your generous support and beautiful sponsors like Sheena Gulati, Seven Eleven (Lambton and Warners Bay only) and Glencore, in the end we raised a whopping $15,000. Amazing! We can't wait to do it all again.

Check out the photos here. A massive thank you to our wonderful Erin Brooks for her handy work on the photography.

VERVE FUN DAYS

The Verve Fun Day 'Wine Tasting Evening' was held on Saturday September 6th, 2014, for those over 18 years of age who enjoy organic wine, cheese, fruit and good company. A beautiful evening with our fabulous friend, Gordo from Tamburlaine Organic Winery, providing a grand selection of delicious organic wines for us all to taste. Attendees had the opportunity to purchase their favourite wine or become a member and receive them throughout the year.

As an added bonus, a beautiful friend of many of the Vervies, Claire Hardy - held a station set up offering free haircuts and styles. Why you say? Well Claire had recently decided to start up her own business and we wanted to share the love and show you how fabulous she is!
